AC & Heating
Nest Thermostats
Cloud Canyon has two Nest AC controllers:
Run a finger along the side of the Nest controller to navigate settings.
Pool Heating
Pool heating costs $375 per heating day to cover propane usage.
The pool is typically heated to 82°F. Depending on outside weather and temperature, the pool will be between 78–82°F. We heat to 82°F to maintain the pool within this range.
⚠️ Any requests for a higher temperature will result in higher pool heating fees, in accordance with propane costs.
Spa Heating
Spa heating is included in the cost of your stay. The spa is heated at all times.
If you find the spa is not heated, check the settings panel. The setting should NOT say SL (Sleep Mode).
To change from Sleep Mode to Standard: press Temp then Light. The setting should change to ST (Standard Mode).
⚠️ Keep the spa cover on at all times when not in use. This keeps the spa working properly and avoids fees.
Pool & Spa Safety
The decks around the spa and pool can be very slippery when wet.
- No jumping or diving
- No running near the pool or spa
- No rough play in or around the water
- No food or glass in the pool and jacuzzi area
⚠️ Children must be supervised at all times — the pool has no cover.
⚠️ Children aged 11 and under may not use the hot tub.
⚠️ Children ages 12–17 may use the hot tub with adult supervision only.
Intoxicants and bodies of water are a risky combination. You are solely responsible for the safety of all persons on the property during your stay.
Pool & Spa Cleaning
Please shower and wash off all makeup and lotions before entering the pool or spa. Do not bring food or drinks near the pool or spa.
⚠️ The jacuzzi cover must remain closed when not actively in use.
⚠️ If the water is contaminated, unscheduled spa cleaning fees start at $200.
Our pool and spa technicians are on property every Monday and Thursday for regular service.
WiFi
WiFi Password: cloudyguest
⚠️ The WiFi modem and satellite radio equipment must not be turned off, unplugged, or touched unless instructed by a manager, owner, or Mojave WiFi employee. Equipment damage fees start at $200.
Smart Devices & Security
⚠️ Motion sensors, door-opening detectors, the security hub, outdoor security cameras, and the sense pad are not to be tampered with in any way.
Tampering with smart devices may result in forfeiture of your security deposit and a lifetime ban from all Cloud 9 Resorts.
TV
Remote controls are in the consoles. Please log in with your own account to any streaming app on our Roku-enabled TVs. Remember to log out at the end of your stay.
Sound System
The soundbars are Bluetooth operated.
Coffee Machine
Recreation & Activities
To reach the hiking trail: exit through the door in the fence, keep right until you see a trail on your left, walk straight until the path moves right, and continue on.
BBQ Grill
All equipment needed to use the BBQ grill is in the cabinet under the grill.
Please keep the grill clean. Pro tip: clean it while it's still hot to remove all the sticky residue.
Firepit & Fire Safety
Be fire-safe first and foremost.
⚠️ Do NOT pour fire-starter liquid — it is dangerous.
⚠️ No fireworks, firearms, or lit candles of any kind on the property.
⚠️ Do not leave the fire unattended.
⚠️ Any cost incurred by a Fire Department visit for a guest-caused incident is to be paid by the guest.
Dogs
We are dog lovers. Cloud Canyon is dog-friendly.
Flat fee of $200 to bring dogs. Several acres are fenced for added security — note that some dogs may dig under or jump fences, so keep an extra eye on your pet.
- Dogs are not allowed on beds or furniture
- Please use the designated potty spot and clean up after your dog
- Only potty-trained dogs are permitted — not menstruating dogs
⚠️ Fur found on beds or furniture: cleaning fees start at $100.
⚠️ Urine, feces, or blood on beds, furniture, or rugs: fees start at $100 plus deductions for any lasting damage.
⚠️ Failure to abide by the pet policy: up to a $400 security deposit charge.
Laundry
Cloud Canyon has two sets of washers and dryers — the laundry room is open to all guests.
We do not provide laundry detergent. If you plan to use the laundry, please bring your own.
We also provide a clothes iron, ironing board, mop, broom, vacuum, and more.
Supplies
An initial supply of trash liners, toilet paper, paper towels, and soap is provided. Extra items needed are the responsibility of the guest.
Towels for your stay are in the cabinets below the sinks in both bathrooms.
Trash
Take all trash to the dumpster by the entrance of the property.
Smoking
Cloud Canyon is a non-smoking home.
Smoking is only allowed outdoors and more than 25 feet from the house and decks, with all windows and doors to the home closed.
⚠️ Out of respect for the desert, you must remove all cigarette butts from the property.
⚠️ Any sign of smoking indoors or near the home will result in additional cleaning fees starting at $100.
Extra Guests
No more than the contracted number of people may be on the property during your stay. If you wish to invite others over, you must first message us for permission.
⚠️ Violation results in a minimum $200 fine per extra guest per night and may result in immediate eviction and forfeiture of your security deposit.
Noise
Sound travels very far in the desert. Please be considerate of neighbors and keep music and voices at a respectful volume at all times.
County noise ordinance: No amplified music or loud noises outdoors after 10 PM.
Photo Shoots
Cloud Canyon is a beautiful place to photograph — you are welcome to share and tag us on Instagram at @CloudCanyonResort.
⚠️ Professional shoots must be cleared with us in advance of your stay. If you are in doubt, inquire first.
Electrical Usage
Please respect the delicate desert environment. Turn off whatever is not in use — lights, fans, and AC when rooms are unoccupied; all systems when leaving the home.
When finished eating at the outdoor dining table, turn off the outdoor heaters.
Dark Skies
Please do not leave exterior lights on after going to bed. Light pollution is taken seriously in the desert — please don't take away from others' stargazing experiences.
Water & Septic
We're off-grid here in the canyon. Keep showers short and you won't run out of hot water.
⚠️ We are on a septic system. All food particles and coffee grounds must go in the trash — not the sink or drain.
⚠️ Only water and minimal toilet paper may go down drains. No wipes, no artificial materials in the toilet — wipes go in the trash only.
⚠️ Any plumber visit caused by a guest septic issue is billed to the guest.
Wildlife Safety
Joshua Tree is wilderness land. From coyotes to snakes to adorable rabbits, life is everywhere in the desert — and like the prickly cacti, some animals can be dangerous.
- Treat nature with respect
- Do not leave food outside or overnight indoors
- Do not allow children to explore unattended
You are solely responsible for your safety and the safety of all others on the property during your stay.
Neat & Tidy
Guests agree to leave the premises and its contents in the same condition — neat and tidy — as found upon check-in.
⚠️ An excessively messy home will incur extra cleaning fees.
⚠️ Late checkout: $100/hour unless previously arranged with us.
Security Deposit
Deductions to the security deposit may include but are not limited to:
- Linens and towels missing or soiled beyond cleaning
- Small breakage items (glasses, plates, etc.)
- Missing items from the house
- Items damaged or stained beyond repair
- Additional guests not claimed on reservation
- Late checkout ($100/hour)

⚠️ For groups over 10 guests, the security deposit is doubled: $1,500 × 2 = $3,000.
Liability
The property owner and manager do not assume liability for loss, damage, or injury to persons or personal property. This includes inconveniences arising from temporary defects or stoppage of water, gas, WiFi, electricity, or plumbing, or due to weather conditions, natural disasters, or other reasons beyond our control. Please report any maintenance needs and we will respond as quickly as possible.
Obey the Law
Guests and visitors shall obey all laws of the State of California and local laws at all times on the premises.
⚠️ Failure to abide by California law or the above rules may result in guests being asked to vacate and forfeit all rents and deposits.
